Mammoth Mountain Opening Day

Opening day just got pushed back. Mammoth Mountain ski resort opened on Friday October 16, but after reconsideration and the unseasonably, unpredictable weather, they are in a "weather" hold for more c old and snow. It is just too warm and wet. The crowds loved the early season, and for those who know, the parking was down from Main Lodge to Chair 4 so a large turnout. The recent storms brought 2 feet of snow down Broadway, and the Summit got from 4-6 feet. This is not the earliest opening, but real close, 10/8/94 was the earliest open. The ski resort will have the annual kick off party in The Village with live bands, food specials and evening entertainment to welcome in the 2009-2010 snow year as originally scheduled the weekend of 11/13/2009. As it has been snowing on and off, the slopes will be filled with natural snow augmented by the famous Mammoth Mountain man-made snow, and the dream team will again be grooming to make sure that opening weekend starts off the year right. Mammoth is known of the earliest opening day, and longest season of any of the west coast ski resorts.
