A Mammoth Snow - Weather Watch

It's coming. Starting January 4 Mammoth Mountain is expecting snow and a lot of it. Depending on who you talk to, 5 - 8 feet, 8-12 feet at higher elevations. Now we can deal with snow, but the wind... well... Please be advised that if the storm hits, you will be stopped by CHP wanting to see your chains. It goes like this R1 - must carry chains, R2 - 2 Wheel Drive must put them on, R3 - All vehicles including 4 WD must use chains. You don't want to be driving in R3! Come prepared. Ski on the Powder, but don't get stuck without having your car in good shape. Hooray. A good snow year!
