Forest located on the western slope of central Sierra
Nevada in California. It includes
more than 1.3 million acres (5,300 km²), at altitudes that range from 1,000
to 14,000 feet (300 to 4,300 m) in elevation. The terrain includes rolling,
oak-covered foothills,
heavily forested middle
elevation slopes and the alpine landscape
of the High Sierra. It also includes a ski area called Sierra
Summit Ski Area, that operates under a special use permit..
